Famine officially declared in Gaza, Help children starving to death
by Australian Committee For UNICEF LimitedChildren in Gaza are starving. Local food production has collapsed, and humanitarian aid is severely restricted. Deprived of essential food and clean water and many are dying from preventable diseases, malnutrition, or while seeking food and water.
132,000 children under five are projected to suffer from acute malnutrition through June 2026, including 41,000 severe cases. Additionally, 55,500 pregnant and breastfeeding women require urgent nutrition support
The threats to children’s lives go beyond bombs and bullets. Over 1.9 million people are internally displaced, around half of them children, and many have sought refuge in overcrowded shelters and makeshift tents with extremely limited access to water, sanitation and hygiene – conditions that are especially dangerous for young children.
Despite an extremely challenging situation, UNICEF and its partners are keeping a critical presence on the ground, delivering services like health, nutrition, clean water, child protection, and facilitate an urgent vaccination campaign, delivering 1.6 million polio vaccines.
There is a major funding gap and we need your help to continue to deliver lifesaving aid at a growing scale.
• $32 could provide 60 sachets of lifesaving food.
• $40 could provide up to 45,000 litres of clean drinking water.
• $155 could help education supplies to ensure 20 students learning.
