Children in Emergencies

par Australian Committee For UNICEF Limited

UNICEF is there for children before, during and after emergencies. Every day we are responding to over 412 emergencies around the world including Burundi, Lebanon, Sudan, Ukraine, Viet Nam, Gaza, Myanmar, PNG and many more.

When war breaks out or climate disaster strikes, the chaos and insecurity that follows leaves children and their families at high risk. They may lose their home, school and often loved ones. Their access to food, water and health care is affected, and many children are left vulnerable to abuse and exploitation.

We can’t stop emergencies from happening, but we can ensure that more children survive and are supported. That means being on the ground, delivering life-saving support before, during and after emergencies happen.

"Today, there are more children in need of humanitarian assistance than at any other time in recent history." - Catherine Russell, UNICEF Executive Director

By donating to our Children's Emergency Appeal, you can help support UNICEF's ongoing work for children facing crises around the world.  Regular giving is the most powerful way to have long systemic impact.

How will my donation help children?
- $92 once or $7.67/month provides more than 7,000 iron supplements, to help prevent anaemia in pregnant women.
- $160 once or $13.33/month provides lifesaving food, to help save the lives of children suffering from malnutrition.
- $300 once or $25/month provides 300,000 litres of clean water, to help prevent deadly waterborne diseases.

Over 95% of homes in this district were destroyed, and in the six most affected districts, over 3,000 homes were lost. UNICEF continues on the ground responding to children in need.

UNICEF is entirely donor funded, meaning to provide the scale of lifesaving treatment and long-term change, we rely on support from the private sector and individuals like you.

Your donations will ensure we are ready to respond when emergencies strike, and we thank you for your contribution. If you choose to donate monthly or should we receive more funds than is needed for this emergency, your gift will support UNICEF's work where the need is greatest.

You can help a child impacted by conflict and crisis. Donate to UNICEF today.
