Afghanistan: Children Need Us Now

Children at Risk as Families Return to Afghanistan

Escalating conflict in the Middle East is forcing families to flee across borders. Right now, thousands are arriving in Afghanistan from Iran after sudden, exhausting journeys, many with nothing, and many with children who urgently need help.

UNICEF is seeing mothers arrive at border reception centres with exhausted, distressed children in need of immediate medical care, safe water, nutrition and protection. If arrivals continue to increase, the risks facing children, especially those who are unaccompanied, will grow rapidly.

Afghanistan is already facing multiple crises, with 11 million children in need of humanitarian support. Supply chain disruptions mean life‑saving items like therapeutic food are at risk of delays, and for malnourished children, time is critical.

Your workplace donation can help deliver urgent support:

- $30 could help provide a day’s worth of clean drinking water for 10,000 people.
- $49 can help provide a first aid kit, which could help treat a range of injuries.
- $136 could help provide two hygiene and dignity kits, assisting two families in emergencies.
- $265 could help provide therapeutic treatment to help save the lives of four children suffering from severe malnutrition.

UNICEF is working with partners to deliver life‑saving care at borders and in communities of return, but we urgently need support to scale up.

Please donate today to help protect children when they need it most.
